Opportunities for Kindness

Assistance for Family Following Sudden Loss

Sycamore Bridges is working with a community advocate to help a long-time Sycamore family after experiencing a sudden and devastating loss over the weekend. Mom is a Sycamore alum who has been raising her large family in her beloved community, with children enrolled in all of our schools (elementary through high school). As a result, the family's profound loss is being felt across the district. We have been asked to help cover the family's anticipated expenses (electric, water, housing, and car) for the next month so Mom can take bereavement time off work without financial worry. Mom's first priority is being present for her children during this difficult time. If you would like to offer assistance, CLICK HERE and designate your donation to "Death in Family".

Summer School Snacks

Sycamore Bridges is working with the Sycamore summer school staff to provide snacks for 20 at-risk high school students for the last 3 weeks of classes. Ideally, we would like to supply both breakfast and afternoon snack options so the students can stay focused on their academics. We put together THIS AMAZON LIST based on the requested items, but ANY snack donations are being accepted. If using the Amazon list, please select "Sycamore Bridges" at shipping to have your purchase sent directly to us. If shopping on your own, reply to this post and you will receive a list of snack drop off locations. Thank you for helping make sure all of our students have what they need to be successful in the classroom.

Bicycle for Summer Fun

Sycamore Bridges received a donation of a gently used bicycle, perfect for a pre-teen girl. Thanks to our conscientious advocates, we placed the bicycle with a well-deserved Sycamore student who can't wait to take advantage of the longer summer days. If you have similar items with life left to give, reply to this post and we will work to find a new home for them.

HS Bridges Backroom Summer Stock

Sycamore Bridges is fully stocking the Sycamore High School Bridges Backroom with hygiene supplies as we head into summer. Did you know students can access the closet all year long, especially those participating in summer school? We are excited to continue serving the student community for all of their hygiene needs. Thanks to a community grant, this request has been fully funded. No additional donations are needed at this time.

Dinner for Foster Mom and Family

Sycamore Bridges is working with a school nurse to arrange dinner for a foster mom of 3 young Sycamore students. Mom is having minor surgery that will keep her off her feet for a few days. The nurse would like to send 2 meals (with anticipated leftovers) that will offer mom some flexibility and grace while she recovers. The total requested is $120. If you would like to offer assistance, CLICK HERE and designate your donation to "Meals".

Play Kitchen Donation

Sycamore Bridges received a donation of a gently used play kitchen ready for its next home. Thanks to our advocates, we were able to find the perfect placement where the kitchen will be well-loved for years to come. No additional donations are needed at this time.

June Rent for Widowed Mother

Sycamore Bridges is working with the Sycamore Schools social worker to assist a young, widowed mom of 3 Sycamore students. Mom was recently downsized at work causing an unplanned loss of income. As a result, she is short on funds for her upcoming rental payment. Thanks to a community grant, we are only in need of $800 to fully cover a month's rent, which also incudes her water and trash expenses. If you would like to offer assistance, CLICK HERE and designate your gift to "June Rent".
