Neighborhood Bridges Program Founders 


JACK ZIPES

Creator of the Neighborhood Bridges program, Dr. Zipes has more than 20 years of experience in working with children, educators, schools, actors and storytellers in utilizing storytelling techniques to enhance core curriculum. Zipes is an acclaimed scholar of children's literature, and an internationally recognized translator of folk tales and fairy tales. Among his books are Speaking Out: Storytelling and Creative Drama for Children, Creative Storytelling: Building Community, and The Complete Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm. He has also recently served as editor-in-chief of The Norton Anthology of Children's Literature and The Oxford Encyclopedia of Children's Literature. Dr. Zipes is currently Emeritus Professor of the Department of German and Comparative Literature at the University of Minnesota.


PETER C. BROSIUS

Peter C. Brosius, Artistic Director, has been a member of The Children’s Theatre Company for eleven years and since then has directed numerous world and regional premiers. Before coming to CTC he had served as the Artistic Director of The Honolulu Theatre for Youth, Improvisational Theatre Project of the Mark Taper Forum. He is the recipient of several awards including TCG's Alan Schneider Directors' Award and honors from the L.A. Drama Critics Circle Award and Dramalogue. He holds a B.A. from Hampshire College and M.F.A. from New York University. Currently he serves on the board of Theatre Communications Group and The Playwrights’ Center.
