Emancipated High School Student

Sycamore Bridges is working with a district advocate to assist a high school student who was recently emancipated from their family. The student is working with a local organization to build an independent life, create a new home, and maintain employment. We would like to help this student by offsetting their living expenses for the next four months before they begin college. Our hope is to bring some financial relief during an incredibly stressful transition, and give this student every opportunity for a successful future. If you would like to make a donation, reply to this post and a donation link will be emailed to you.

Annual Scholarships for Graduating Seniors

Sycamore Bridges is once again awarding two $1,500 scholarships to graduating seniors as they continue their educational journey.

The Frank Forsthoefel Scholarship recognizes a student who is pursuing higher education in any capacity (whether it be trade school, community college, or a traditional 4-year institution) where the added expense creates an undue burden for the student. Mr. Forsthoefel spent his Sycamore career as Superintendent embodying our mission -- to remove barriers, provide for basic needs, and seek equity for students so they can engage and succeed in school and life. He worked tirelessly to support all of our students so they can reach their full potential. We honor his legacy and continue his example with this gift.

The Karen Naber Scholarship recognizes a student who has demonstrated a strong track record for community service. Mrs. Naber spent her Sycamore career focused on engaging and serving the greater community through innovative means. She is actually credited with introducing Neighborhood Bridges to Sycamore, just one of many examples of her humble service, not only to our students but to our neighbors. Ideally, the recipient of this scholarship has taken advantage of or even created service opportunities through school-sanctioned events, extracurricular activities, and/or community organizations.

The recipients of our scholarships are selected by the HS counseling team since they work so closely with our students. The scholarships will be presented at Senior Awards Night this May. If you would like to contribute to one or both of these scholarship opportunities, CLICK HERE and check the appropriate scholarship box on the the donation screen.

One Week's Hotel Stay

Sycamore Bridges was contacted by a school counselor to assist a single mom with one week's payment at a local hotel. The family is seeking permanent housing in our district, but has taken residence in an extended stay hotel in the meantime. Mom was unable to work for the last two weeks due to car trouble and therefore needs assistance with this week's hotel payment. The weekly rate is $406. If you would like to contribute to this request, reply to this post and a donation link will be emailed to you.

April Rent

Sycamore Bridges was contacted by a school advocate to assist a young mom with her April rent. Our neighbor began a new job in March but does not receive her first paycheck for another two weeks. Unfortunately, this delay will prohibit her from making her April rent payment. We would like to contribute $450 to make sure she does not fall behind and accrue exorbitant late fees. If you would like to contribute to this request, reply to this post and a donation link will be emailed to you.

Kroger Gift Card for Single Mom

Sycamore Bridges was contacted by a school counselor to assist a single mom of four young kids. Things are tight for Mom right now, so we would like to offer a $200 Kroger gift card to help ease some her burden. Mom was recently connected to resources to help her long-term, but we would like to bridge the gap until that assistance begins. If you would like to contribute to this request, reply to this post and a donation link will be emailed to you.

Prom Tickets for HS Students

Sycamore Bridges was contacted by the high school administration team to assist 6 students with purchasing their prom tickets. Each student is in good academic standing with demonstrated financial need, and has expressed a desire to attend prom. We would like to make sure these students are able to experience this special night without financial strain. We are collecting $390 (6 tickets at $65 each). If you would like to offer assistance, reply to this post and a donation link will be emailed to you.
